CMF (Comisión para el Mercado Financiero)

Definition

Chile's financial-markets regulator, governing public markets and licensed intermediaries. Private share transfers are contractual matters settled between the parties and the company's registry, outside the CMF's direct purview.

Why it matters for a secondary

As elsewhere in the region, a Chilean secondary is priced and negotiated privately — the CMF's role is limited to the public-market edge of the system.
